Club house re-development underway

The re-development of the club house is well underway and you can follow the progress of the project on either the Stadium’s Twitter, Instagram or Facebook pages.

Whether you have ambitions to be an international athlete or just want to take up running for fun and recreation, Stockport Harriers is the ideal club for you.

We have over 600 members aged between seven and eighty who enjoy the benefits of being part of a club which caters for all levels of experience and ability of all athletics disciplines. There is also a wheelchair racing section of the Club.

Members of the Club compete in track & field events and road, cross country and fell races. You do not have to be dedicated to competing as there are many members who enjoy the sport in a purely recreational capacity.

We are also always on the lookout for new coaches and officials so if you are interested in these aspects of athletics please contact us.

Facilities

Stockport Harriers’ base is at Woodbank Park where members use a floodlit, weatherproof running track and sports field which is managed by the club and is also available for hire.

Woodbank Stadium

In the summer the leafy park, with meadows extending down to the banks of the river Goyt, provides an extended training area for off-track sessions.

Hot showers, changing facilities and a members hut serving snacks and hot drinks are also available.

Weekly circuit training sessions are also available to club members at a local sports hall. More..>

Coaching

Whichever event you are interested in, the club provides free coaching on a weekly basis. Some groups get together more than once a week, meeting up at the weekend, to take part in competitions or just to run together. Whatever your level of commitment there is a place for you.

For junior members, dedicated coaches offer a wide-ranging introduction to athletics which continues throughout the year.

So if you want to meet a group of joggers to keep you company you will find them. Men and women of all ages and abilities run together for fun most of them are not chasing gold medals! More..>
