Steve 5th in Euro Mountain champs

British mountain running champion Steve Vernon finish 5th in the European Uphill Mountain Running Championships at Borovets in Bulgaria leading the British Senior Men’s team to the Silver medal

In preparation for the event Steve has been training in the altitude chamber at Manchester Metropolitan University in readiness for a climb up to 2,360 metres over an 11.8km course.

Meanwhile Chelsea Jarvis has been putting the final preparations to her British Athletics team debut in the 800 metre at the IAAF World Youth Track and Field Championships in Donetesk Ukraine next week.

The 17-year-old Harrier posted a fast 1500 metres best of 4-24 on Sunday at the British Milers Club Nike Grand Prix finishing a close third behind Dutch winner Marlin Van Hal and Charnwood cross international Juliet Potter second in 4-23.72.

Mollie Williams competed in the 3,000m at the English Schools Track and Field Championships at Birmingham's Alexandra Stadium at the weekend. As temperatures soared to 80° Mollie recorded an English Schools standard and a new best of 10-25 in the Inter Girls' final.
