Stockport Harriers’ Race Series - Race 1

Stockport Harriers inaugural ‘Race Series’ got underway on the 9th March when 16 ‘registered’ runners participated in the Trafford 10k.

Although many were preparing for the Spring Marathon season, it was still an excellent turnout and we received some positive feedback from entrants regarding the organisation and course route.

Ross Millington was the first Stockport Harrier past the post in 2nd position overall with a time of 29:23, while James Corden was the first ‘Race Series’ runner to pick up 100 points with a time of 35:15.

Well done to James and all the other runners and our focus now turns to the second race of the ‘Series’...the Wilmslow Half on this coming Sunday.

Race Series Rules

  • To count in any Series race you have to wear a Stockport Harriers & AC vest/shirt.
  • You MUST compete in a minimum of 8 races from the total list of 27.
  • You can decide which of the 27 races you prefer to enter and there is no obligation to participate in any particular event.
  • There is no maximum limit to how many races you can run.
  • Your final position in the Table will be determined by your best 8 results from the total number of races you compete in (you need to run 8 races to qualify).
  • Points will be allocated based on best performance by a Stockport Harriers & AC runner in any given race. 100 points to the first Stockport Harrier runner to finish, 99 points to the second finisher, 98 points to the third finisher and so on.
  • Only those runners who have ‘signed up’ to compete in the Series will be awarded points.
  • If forced to retire through injury during a race, one point will be awarded (but only once during the Series).
  • All times/finishing places will be taken from official sources.
