Thirty eight Stockport Harriers’ runners were amongst the 430 starters in the 4th event of our 'Race Series'…the 5.3 mile jaunt 'Round the Runway' in leafy Mobberley. With the race also part of other clubs' summer series, the event saw a big turnout from Wilmslow RC, Sale Harriers, Bramhall Runners amongst others.
This resulted in some very competitive contests and plenty of PB's.
As usual the race started at the Railway Pub near Mobberley station and took a loop around Manchester Airport's second runway and via the River Bollin along quiet and scenic country roads/lanes. Conditions were relatively cool and rain free so perfect for running.
From the total Stockport Harriers representation, 30 runners were out to collect points, our biggest turnout to date and results were as follows:

Well done to all the runners who in the words of one participant "wore their Stockport vests with pride"…and I believe there were plenty of thirsty runners in the pub after the race!
I'm seeing a definite trend starting to emerge...
After four races the top three places are as follows, with only Karl and David having competed in all events to date.
Karl Tavini - 385
David Mellor - 363
Robert Goulsbra – 289
But remember, it's your best 8 results that count at the end of the Series so plenty of time to collect points.
Many thanks to Claire MacNeill for her help in compiling all the results.
The next race is the Radcliffe 10k on Sunday 27th April at 11:00am.
See you there!
