A busy weekend saw Stockport’s U13 & U15 squad win the second match of the season in the UK Youth Development League at Warrington’s newly re-laid Victoria Park track on Saturday, consolidating victory in the first round despite a number of Athletes being absent this time around due to school holidays. Not to be outdone, the Club’s talented U17 & U20 Athletes put in an excellent team performance at their second match of the summer to take victory ahead of match 1 winners East Cheshire Harriers at Ellesmere Port on Sunday.
On a weekend that saw many outstanding individual performances, the real headlines should go to all of the Athletes to stepped up for an event or two outside of their comfort zone that helped the Club to victory, making up for a significant number of half-term holiday absentees. It’s this kind of commitment and team spirit that will help us achieve our goal of winning the Division titles in each of the two leagues and achieve promotion for next season. The Young Athletes have certainly made a great start and we will hope to continue this success later this month in the third and penultimate round of matches.
