Training groups

Whichever event you are interested in, the club provides free coaching on a weekly basis. Some groups get together more than once a week, meeting up at the weekend, to take part in competitions or just to train. Whatever your level of commitment there is a place for you.

Coaching is provided for the following events

  • Track events for all ages
  • Javelin, discus, shot and hammer throwing
  • Distance/middle distance running

For junior members, dedicated coaches offer a wide-ranging introduction to athletics which continues throughout the year.

And, if you want to meet a group of joggers to keep you company you will find them. Men and women of all ages and abilities run together for fun; most of them are not chasing gold medals!

If you have never been a member of an athletics club before do not be deterred. One visit to a club evening on Tuesday or Thursday will demonstrate that not all members are finely tuned athletes.

Important information regarding junior coaching groups ages 7 to 10 years.

Please note, coaching groups for the age range 7 to 10 are currently at capacity and we now have a waiting list. If you would like to apply to be added to the list please telephone us on 0161-476-0009, leave a message and we will contact you.
