The Facility is a fully equipped floodlit athletics stadium with a 6 lane 400m track and 8 lanes on the home straight. All athletics field events are catered for.
The club house can accommodate about 60 people seated. It has a shop/kitchen, full changing and toilet facilities. There is a disabled toilet and first aid room.
The Facility is used for track and field meetings for Stockport Schools and area matches in the Youth Development League and Cheshire League. The Stockport 10 and Offerton 5 mile road races start and finish there.
The Facility is used weekly by Supportability (CP Wheelers), Walthew House Visually Impaired Walking Group and Team New Balance athletes.
Many schools book the track for GCSE assessments, sports days and other events.
Enquiries regarding facility booking should emailed to ajdilkes@ntlworld.com or a message left on the Stadium answerphone 0161-476 0009.
There are 2 car parks available within the park. Use post code SK1 4BN for the main car park from where it is a 4 or 5 minute walk to the track or SK1 4JR from where the walk is about 10 mins.
A new throwing cage to meet UKA/IAAF standards for continued track and field competitions was installed in 2022.
The original halide floodlights were upgraded to LED units in 2023. This will give much better illumination, reduce running costs and light diffusion that affects local houses and wild life.
The Woodbank Stadium is the home of Stockport Harriers & AC and was built in the 1950’s with a cinder track and Stockport Harriers have been based there since then.
The synthetic track was installed in 1985 after a fund raising appeal by the Club was successful in raising significant money and the Council was brought on board.
In 1997 the Club took over the management of the Facility from Stockport MBC.
When the new club house was built in 2016 the Club became incorporated as a not for profit company as a condition of the Management Agreement with Stockport MBC. The Club now has total responsible for all income, maintenance and development of the Facility.
As the Facility has to be self funding all income is derived from training fees, hire fees and grant funding.
