Ladies win county relay medals

Report: Phil McCann

NWRR Silver medalists

Silver medallists at the North West Counties Relays; Toni Macintosh, Kerrie Wood and Emma Hampton

A fantastic day all round for Stockport lady Harriers at the North West Road Relays also here at Stockport. We had our highest number of teams running ever in any relay event with 7 teams and our previous highest in this event being 2.

We also finished our highest place team in 7th place overall our highest previous being 14th. We were a little unlucky not to be in the top 5 but all the teams worked wonders and achieved great times.

To add to this we finished with Silver and Bronze medals in the Greater Manchester County, a fantastic achievement. New to this event was a young team of Carla, Katie and Clare who enjoyed the experience and gained much knowledge from the event. Selection of the teams was virtually spot on with all the teams in correct order which is no mean feat

With so many teams a couple of the ladies running faster times than previous will have to watch them for future events !!

Trafford 10k

A few of the lady Harriers ran the 2nd of the Trafford 10k race this September, the other being in March. This is always a popular race with a fast flat course and again we saw some of the ladies come away with personal bests.

Our first counter home was Toni McIntosh after a long time out of racing. She clocked a time of 39-58 and is now working towards the cross country season to build on her endurance.

Maryte Moore again improving ran a personal best of 46-02 with Vicky Buckley close behind just missing out on her best in 46-47. Helen Todd ran a solid 47-53 with Ruth Lee going well with 49-44.

Beware ladies I myself came back to catching them up to run 51-40 not far off now! We also finished 4th ladies team out of 8

Brussels Marathon

Vicky Barrett completed her Brussels Marathon at the end of August and recorded a time of 3-26.

Vicky was hoping to make the qualifying time of 3-15 for the championship start in London next year but it was not to be.

Her training was hampered with illness and injury but she gave it a good try. Vicky paced the race evenly throughout and bodes well for her next one On a sad note she was looking to meet up in Brussels with another Harrier Vince Holland who sadly passed away a few days before the race.

However Vicky can still qualify for a guaranteed Good for Age place in London along with Samantha Thomas, Sharon Glendon and Alice Dagg.

Club Championships

Report: Pete Torrence

The week started last Sunday with the Track and Field Championships at Woodbank Park where a good number of athletes of all age groups took part in the last track event of the season.

It has been a long season for a lot of the juniors athletes so it was a good time to relax and have a competition where there was no pressure on anybody.
