On a Sunny Saturday morning Stockport’s women travelled over to Northwich for the North West Road Relays.
Having arrived we set about the task of sorting out the best permutations for each leg. Having four teams entered once again we started by looking around the course which was set in a beautiful park to see what we were up against and the course was flat to say the least.
The A team consisted of Emma Hampson who bravely took the role of lead runner, Carley Davies followed on 2nd leg with Kaisleigh Greenham on 3rd. The B team we had Helen Garner 1st Leg, Vicky Barrett 2nd leg and Sarah Kay on 3rd. The C team was Julie Fairclough on 1st, Maureen Wilkins on 2nd then Debra McCann on 3rd. Finally the D team had a few new comers with Emma Jones on 1st then Karen Bainbridge on 2nd with experienced Marie Kay on 3rd.
We were hoping to be in the medals for the Greater Manchester area but this year we were just piped and had to settle for 4th place, a pity as everyone had really worked hard throughout the race. My thanks to everyone for turning out at such short notice but the information was not available until the week before for unknown reasons.
Stockport’s women wil be travelling to Hartlepool for the Northern 4 stage this weekend so we wish them all the best.
