Girls take Northern team bronze

The under-13 girls’ again showed that they can compete with any club in the North of England with an excellent peformance in taking a Northern Cross Country team bronze thanks to great runs from Olivia Wild, Jess Shaw, Carla Edwards and Mollie Williams.

This year’s Northern Cross Country Championships were held at Sherdley Park in St Helens, the course turned out to be a very tough and muddy one making running very difficult but all the Harriers who turned out took it in their stride and we had some great results.

The under-13 girls’ again showed that they can compete with any club in the North with a great result in taking 3rd team prize with great runs from Olivia Wild 18th in 13:02 with Mollie Williams having a great run to take 23rd place in 13:08 followed by improving Carla Edwards 41st in 13:27 and Jess Shaw 77th in 14:17 to take third spot behind Lincoln and Liverpool. Just behind Sophie Williams again had a fine run to come home in 90th place in 14:30.

The most unlucky Stockport athlete at Sherdley Park was Aimee Aikin who lost her shoe on the first lap and then had her foot stood on but still finished in 81st place in 14:20.

Other results from the Harriers in the under-13 boys’ Daniel Lawton worked his way through the field to finish in 18th place in 12:16 and in the under-15 boys’ Richard Hindley had another great result to finish 5th in 12:20.
