What a fantastic turn out for the second match with great camaraderie and Stockport working hard to take them to second place on the day but we were not beaten on the competing side it was more on the officials, but watch this space at the next meeting.
We had some PB's from Paul Gill, throwing 22.16 in the Discus and 8.36 in the Shot-putt. Neil Wilkins also getting a PB in the Hammer throwing 23.76. Michael Cooke doing an amazing run on his first steeple chase in a wining time of 10-08.5 and making it look like a walk in the park.
Our new comer to the events is Barrie Stephenson who worked well on the Long Jump, then went on to do the High Jump and the 200m. Rory Evens also having a good day winning the 100m in 10.09. Jon Walsh also winning his 800m in a good time of 1-59.0. Steve Vernon and Andy Nixon made the whole of the 5000m look so easy they even managed to have a chat, at one point Steve was commenting how good Andy looked!
Not to be out done the ladies also had a great day and what would we do without Marie Kay, I think she is the patron saint of Stockport Harrier! She works so hard at these matches and will put her hand to any event.
Lucy McLaughlin and Helen Walsh worked well on the 800m, Lucy winning in a fine time of 2-24.1 and Helen back on form coming in second at 2-29.9.
Ruth Jenyon and Marie Kay completing the 1500m, then Ruth going on to win the 3000m in 11-25.0.
Sarah Kay, Jenny Bauer and Charlie Hesketh were our sprinters on the day and all ran in great form, not only did they compete in the sprint they also went on to join Haley Standing in the field events where they competed in the Discus, Shot-putt, Hammer and Javelin! well done to you all, you should be very proud of yourselves and a big thank you for the supporters on the day and also to Graham Marsden who managed the men's team at such short notice.
Next match is at Halifax on Sunday 6th July
