Two of Stockport Harriers’ young talented athletes where in action this weekend, Rory Evans was picked to compete in the Aviva World Trials at Birmingham and Olivia Wild represented Greater Manchester at the English Schools at Sheffield.
Rory, who is coached by Cliff Oldham, has represented Derbyshire at the English Schools in the past but his best achievement came this weekend being picked to compete in the World Trials at Alexander Stadium, Birmingham. He reached the semi-finals of the 100 metres where he came up against Simeon Williamson the winner of the final. Rory in the heats on Friday in clocked a personal best with 10.76 but could not repeat the time in the semis with 11.02.
Olivia represented Greater Manchester at the English Schools at Don Valley, Sheffield in the junior girls 800 metres on Friday, taking on the very best athletes from all over England she had a great run but could not make the top two to reach the final.
We wish both Rory and Olivia good luck in the future.
