There were some impressive performances at the recent Buxton Half Marathon, which was celebrating its 30th anniversary.
In blustery conditions, competitors had to tackle a challenging route which included numerous steep climbs and sharp descents. Despite the stunning views, Sarah Lomas was not hanging around to admire them and was first lady home in a time of 1:29:00. Jennifer Hopes was also amongst the prizes, taking third place in 1.33.25.
In the men's race, James Scott-Buccleuch took third place in a time of 1.17.32, despite having competed in the BMC 5000m at Sportcity the previous evening, James Corden, who had taken part in the May Queen fell race two days previously, finished 8th in 1.23.53 and with Lee Barratt and Andy Fowler also highly placed the men's team prize was secured for Stockport.
Prizes were awarded in the Pavillion Gardens bandstand after some well-earned refreshments.
Well done to everyone who took part.
