Ross Millington took his first UKA title at the UKA European under-23 trial held at Bedford and will represent the Great Britain team at the European under-23 Championships to be held in Ostrava in two weeks time.
Ross who has been a member of Stockport Harriers since 2002 as a 12-year-old ran in his first ever track race at a Trafford Open meet winning the 1,000 metres in the time of 3-10.
Ross has progressed each year and in doing so took his first UKA title under the guidance of his coach and recent UKA Mountain running champ Steve Vernon who has also been a member since he was 14-years-old.
Ross took the 5,000 metres title with a convincing six second gap over John McDonnell of Luton AC after a last lap of 61 seconds and Kiwi Aaron Pulford further back in 14-20
Club 800 metre runner Chelsea Jarvis competed at the English Schools Finals and made it through her round on Friday and into the final to take bronze medal in a close run race for the line just edged out of silver by 400ths of a second.

This weekend Ross races at the Solihull British Milers Grand Prix in his last race before the European Championships.
Ross will sharpen up over 1,500 metres, also competing are training squad members Northern 1,500 metre Champion Elle Baker in the 1,500 metres and Chelsea Jarvis in the 800 metres also Pat Martin in the 5,000 metres.
