As the track season comes to a close two of the junior girls travelled to Cudworth near Barnsley to compete in the Under-15/17 Northern Track & Field Championships. Both girls stepping up an age group from under-13 to under-15 and they did themselves proud competing well against athletes up to two years older.
In the under-15 girls 800 metres there was three heats with 22 athletes taking part, in heat 1 Eliza Brackenridge Jones had an outstanding run to finish 3rd in the heat with a new best of 2-28.44.
Heat 3 saw Lucy Donaghy in the fastest heat of the day but again she showed why she is one of the top under-13s in the country finishing in 4th place taking 4 seconds of her best with a time of 2-23.88 making the final as the fastest loser. In the final 2 hours later Lucy had an other great race and finish 6th behind winner Megan Bates of Edan Runners who won in a time of 2-17.10.
Chelsea Jarvis stepped-up from the 800 metres to have a great run in the 1,500 metres to take 3rd place behind winner Abbie Hethrington of Carlisle Aspatria who won in a time of 4-35.25.
