World 5,000 metre Champion Mo Farah has given Stockport Harriers a boost to their centenary year celebrations with 2 club vests signed by the track star.
The vests and the National Cross Country Championship trophy won by Steve Vernon this year will be on display at Woodbank Park during the Len Mullen Memorial Cross Country races this Sunday, 9th October.
Steve Vernon was delighted by this thoughtful and sporting gesture from his international team mate. “I have known Mo since we both competed as juniors, I invited him to the Len Mullen event, but he is committed to a strict training and racing schedule with one goal in mind, a gold at the 2012 London Olympics and therefore he is unable to attend, but has given the club these signed vests”.
Race organiser Brian Leigh has welcomed this addition to centenary celebrations from the potential Olympic champion.
Brian has arranged for the vests to be framed by Heroes and Legends based at the Merseyway Precinct who have donated a prize for the first male and female veteran over 50 years from Stockport Harriers.
A framed vest has been dedicated as the The Mo Farah Junior Endurance Athlete Award which will be bestowed annually at the Club’s presentation night
Entries for the Road and Fell sponsored event include this years National Cross country Champion and Olympic hopeful Steve Vernon.
If your looking to see the fastest man in the land over 5 miles of cross country look no further than Woodbank Park on Sunday 9th October.
