Elle 7th in Holland

Elle Baker made a welcome return to international racing at the Groningen 4 mile road race in Northern Holland.

The race had special significance as it was its 25th anniversary and attracted some of the World’s best distance runners along with 20,000 participants.

Starting 4 miles away in the village of Arnen the race starter was Luis Van Galle (ex Bayern Munich and Barcelona manager) and finished in the town square of Groningen.

In the men’s race Kenyan Vincent Yator set a new world record of 17-06 to hold off the fast finishing Olympic champion Kenenisa Bekele in 17-11. 

The women’s race was won by World Silver 5,000m medalist Sylvia Kibet of Kenya 19-40 and Ethiopian Emebet Anteneh 19-42. Sembrra Teferi Ethiopia 20-13, Almensch Belete 20-13, Elle was following in the chasing group including Iwona Lendowska of Poland 20-.41, Susan kiuijhen Holland 20-43 and Elle in 20-45.
