Having travel down to London a small group of Stockport Harriers junior girls found that it was just like a summers day at Parliament Hill Fields as they competed in the English National Cross Country Champs.
Yet again it was the under-13s that showed the team spirt with a few of the group missing they had a fantastic result with Lucy Donaghy showing she is one of England's top athletes in her age group as she was in the top group all the way round the 3k course to finish 12th place out of a field of 400 athletes in a time of 12-08 just behind her Katy Whiteoak had another great run to finish in 32nd place in 12-36 then fast finisher Juliet Downs in 72nd place had a great run in 13-01 and to make the team up Emma Donaghy showed that she is back to her old form to come in 120th place in 13-23 to give the team 10th place out of the 46 teams taking part, they where backed up by Georgia Bourke in 197th place in 14-06 then Francesca Carosi in 215th place in 14-14 and Emiley Hughes in 313th place in 15-36.
In the under-15's race over 4k again Ellen Downs showed that she is improving with every race to take 80th place in 15-50 just in front of Mollie Williams who coming back fron injury had a great run in 104th place in 16-10 and to be followed home by Sophie Williams in 204th place in 17-21.
In the under-17's race over a 5k course being the first race of the day the two athletes who competed in the race started the Harriers off two a good day out with Nicola Berry in 92th place in 21-59 and Aimee Aikin in 174th place in 25-04.
