Northern Cross Country Championships

The Northern Cross Country Championships took place at Knowsley Safari Park and it turned out to be good venue for the Harriers while all the animals where tooked up in side, the athletes of the North turned out in force to have a great day out, the course turned out to be a very hard up and down 4k loop and then to add three inches of snow on top added to the fun.

The first race was the under-17 ladies and they started the day well over the 5k course inform Mollie Williams first in 7th place then Elizabeth Apsley in 13th followed by Ellen Downs 23rd, Sophie Williams in 61st and Roisin Clegg in 69th place claiming third team spot.

The next race saw the under-13 girls cover a 3k course and they found it very hard going in the soft snow but they all had great runs again it was Rebecca Jones leading home in 13th place then Francesca Carosi in 62nd place then Emma Flynn 67th, Heather Corden 81st, Grace Garner 99th, Natasha Harrison 108th and Jess Connors 117th.

The next race the under-15 girls had to cover a 4k course and what a race it turn out to be with Katy Whiteoak taking 3rd place with just 2 seconds behind 2nd place Grace Handley of Blackburn then Juliet Downs in 19th followed by Lucy Donaghy 26th, Chloe Lockett 38th and Emiley Hughes in 111st and they took 2nd team prize behind winners Warrington.
