A small group of Stockport Harriers brought the curtain down on a successful indoor season with their strong performances at the Manchester Indoor Open Meeting at Sportcity on Sunday 23rd March.
There were wins for Ellie Staley (Coach: Joe Frost) in the Womens 60m with 8.14 seconds and for Natasha Harrison (Pete Torrance) in the Under-17 Women’s 300m with a personal best performance of 43.77 seconds. More impressive than the wins was that both girls were competing out of age group against Athletes at least one age group above them.
Elsewhere, Mia Deaville (Cliff Oldham) finished third on her indoor debut with 9.15 seconds in the Under-15 Girls 60m and Hilary West missed out on breaking the two-minute barrier by the smallest of margins in the Women’s 600m with 2:00.18 in a race where Stockport’s Megan Ashelby (Dave Turnbull) finished third with a time of 1:42.11.
In the Men’s sprints Danny Savin (Cliff Oldham) finished fifth in the 60m with 7.49 seconds, with James Pratt (Joe Frost) fourth in his heat with an 8.30 second run, followed up with a third place finish in the 300m in a time of 43.63 seconds.
