The 2018 race series has been announced on Stockport Harriers Facebook and updates on the website and noticeboard will follow.
The organiser, Tony Park states:
"This year we continue the tradition of having a blend of fell races, trail races and road races both short and long. We have added some old favourites such as the Boars Head and Buxworth 5...kept some traditional races which everyone seems to enjoy such as Offerton 10k, Charlesworth 5k, Bramhall Foodbank and Whaley Waltz...and added a few new races to keep things interesting like the Rivington Pike Fell (ouch!), the beautiful Yarrow River Bluebell Trail (stunning scenery), the re-established Kettleshulme Fell Race and the Leek Half Marathon.
The Race Series will also include the Helen Fraser Memorial Club Handicap. We have moved this to the summer on a Tuesday evening so as many people as possible can participate.
The Race Series will also have a best of five ParkRun event...this year at Hyde.
Finally, the Race Series starts with the Trafford 10k followed by the Poynton 10k...both these races are almost full so please book asap to confirm your place.
I will add all last years runners to the Race Series automatically. If any additional club runners would like to participate, then please let Tony know directly with your Run Britain ranking. The helps to place you in an appropriate division.
It is free to participate, you just have to be a member of SHAC and run in 8 races to qualify...as many runners have already discovered, it's a great way to meet other club members and there is that famous mug to collect at the end."
