Report of 2nd Event – 3 October 2015
We were pleased to record our best turnout of runners for a number of years. As usual, if you spot any errors or misspellings in the results and report, please let me know.
Girls Years 3-4:
Freya Murdoch of Pownall Green made in two wins in a row coming home in an excellent time of 6:01. Behind her, 9 runners crossed the line in an 11-second period, with Rosie Philbin of St Mary’s Marple, taking 2nd place in a time of 6:48 and Emily Whitworth of Lady Barn House taking 3rd place 2 seconds behind her. Saffron Meade, who came 2nd in the first event came in 4th after a diversion off course on the approach to the stadium. Freya leads the League with 2 points, while Saffron, Emily and Rosie sit one place behind with 6 points each.
In the team competition, Lady Barn House continues to hold the lead with 57 points, with St Mary’s Marple holding onto 2nd place. Ladybrook now lies in 3rd place with 109 points having pulled up from 5th in the first event.Boys Years 3-4:
Luke Carrington of Gee Cross gained his second win of the season, crossing the line in 6:01. The next 3 places were decided by a close sprint to the line. Second place was taken by Harry Ahearn of St Christopher’s Romiley in his first race in the League in a time of 6:05, with Finley McLaughlin of Lady Barn House in 3rd place in 6:06, a time he shared with 4th placed Harvey Kenny of Prestolee, who is another newcomer to the League. Luke leads those with 2 races under their belts with 2 points, with Finley 2nd on 5 points and Dylan Norburn of St Mary’s Marple in 3rd place with 9 points.
Gee Cross continues to lead the team competition with 103 points, 10 points ahead of High Lane in 2nd place and 20 points ahead of St Paul’s in 3rd place.Girls Years 5-6:
The first 5 runners home filled the same places as they did in the first event. This time, Isabelle Burke of St Ann’s went under the 10 minute mark in finishing first in the excellent time of 9:42. Also under 10 minutes was 2nd-placed Isabelle Merritt of St Andrew’s Over Hulton who finished in 09:48, with Jasmine Reed of Rose Hill Primary 3rd in 10:09.
In the team competition, Stockport Grammar moves to the top of the table with 63 points, closely followed by High Lane in 2nd place with 67 points, and Romiley in 3rd place with 95 points.Boys Years 5-6:
Cathal O’Grady Smith of St Christopher’s won his second event of the season coming home in a time of 9:50. Finley Mayoh of Nevile Road again came 2nd, this time breaking the 10- second mark in 9:52. Jonah Wall of Great Moor who came 4th in the first race took 3rd place in 10:12, reversing positions with Will Kershaw of Cale Green. Jonah and Will now share 3rd place in the table with 7 points each.
St Christopher’s Romiley holds onto the head of the team table with 63 points, with Romiley Primary holding onto 2nd place with 96 points and St Mary’s Marple holding onto 3rd place with 119 points.Next Event
